![]() PETER GELDERBLOM Fresh from the storming top five success of Fedde Le Grand and Ida Corr’s ‘Let Me Think About It’, Spinnin Records continue their chart assault with the release of Peter Gelderblom’s ‘Waiting 4’ by the end of 2007: a slice of exhilarating dance music, which has been tearing up the white isle last summer. Starting life as a bootleg of the Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s ‘By The Way’, the record immediately had the underground scene buzzing, as the likes of Judge Jules and David Guetta clamoured to get their hands on the track that had crowds chanting for it to be played (check YouTube for the evidence). Pete Tong, Dave Pearce & Judge Jules have all hammered it on Radio 1 leading to early daytime plays from both Jo Whiley & Scott Mills! Hype on the record was already at fever pitch around Europe with Peter playing to festival crowds in excess of 100,000 people and ‘Waiting 4’ became a sing-a-long anthem. The instantly recognisable opening riff, the back of the net hitting bassline, the sing along vocal hook and the ever present strings which tie up the whole package. This was another Spinnin nugget destined to become a dancefloor anthem, radio mainstay and video classic over the last months. Peter started his DJ career at the tender age of 14, moving on over the years to tie down residencies at some of the biggest clubs in his native Rotterdam. Work as a record store owner, label manager and, latterly, an in demand remixer followed, mixing (quite literally) in the same circles as Laidback Luke, Fedde Le Grand, Rene Amez, Steve Angello and Eric Prydz. Having played all over the world including a residency at the infamous Space in Ibiza, Gelderblom is set to be the next to make the crossover from underground sensation, to household favourite. Peter made it, Spinnin (who else) found it, the crowds love it – pick up the records and Dj you’ve been ‘Waiting 4’ Peter's musical career starts at the age of 14 (1979) musical inspired by Earth Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, George Benson etc. He played at a club near Rotterdam for 6 years with great succes (LaBaraque, The Netherlands) wich resulted in having a new residency at the biggest club in Rotterdam (Ramblas Club). He played there for nearly 10 years!! During the week he worked as a storemanager at Midtown records in Rotterdam. After those glory days at Ramblas it was time to start something for his own together with his wife Helen. The result was a club on a boat called Barocca wich was with no doubt the most populair afterclub in the Netherlands at that time. During the week he started to work as a labelmanager and producer for the wellknown recordlabel "Blue Records". After 4 years Barocca had to close his doors because of new rules of the city of Rotterdam. It was a big slap in the face and he had a hard time for a year, but Peter and Helen recovered and started a new club called The Revolution and again it was (and still is) a great success. During this period he met Rene Amesz who was working at Midtown and they discussed if there was a possibility to coorperate and produce together. They build a brand new studio in the centre of Rotterdam at the back of a record store called Rhythm Import. The store did\'nt do so well but Peter was 100% sure that is was possible to make the shop do well again, so he bought it. Nowadays he's club/shop/studio owner and producer with his musical partner and big friend Rene Amesz.
